"I research the History of your House" |
|
|
How its done..... If you live in an old house you must have wondered about the families who occupied it in days gone by. Whether your house is large or small, a manor house or a cottage, it is bound to have a fascinating history, and knowing a little about the people who occupied it before you and how they lived their lives will add greatly to your appreciation of your home. I have been researching house histories for ten years. My interest was awoken when I moved into our 600 year old house in Surrey and succeeded in researching every occupant since the late 1300's. Using my own extensive experience and the abundant documentation available for the county of Surrey, I am able to research a complete house history for you, produced in a readable and interesting format. My main interest is social history and for that reason the history you will receive will not simply be a list of dates, but more a colourful illustration of the people who occupied your house over the years, how they lived and what life was like for them. Sometimes a certain amount of local history is included, often with a family tree based on the local church records. It is also frequently possible to supply copies of Wills, old maps, bills of sale and other interesting documents. The length of the report depends, of course, upon the amount of documentation available for research and a report can be anything between twelve and fifty pages long. If you should be interested, I would visit you in the first instance to view the house and discuss any other details, which of course would be free of charge and entirely without obligation.
